If you are looking for your time in high school to be the best it can be, this is the program for you. You will learn things and make friends who will stay with you for life. We volunteer in the community helping to improve the world around us. We have helped re-plant and green-up local parks, worked with physically and mentally handicapped children, run carnivals, and donated thousands of pounds of food to the needy. We also participate in Model City Council and Model Society as well as projects with the American Cancer Society. You will have the opportunity to take special elective classes opened only to Academy students, including "Issues in Public Policy," and take college level courses that interest you. We will work to prepare you for college. For more information see Ms. Sanchez in room 382.

This program allows the student to earn ONE elective course credit per term (maximum 4 credits) for their job training and education. School credit is granted to the part-time co-op enrollee who works a minimum of 15 hours per week and submits all required co-op forms. The student must have attendance cards, be rated satisfactory by the employer and the coordinator, and attend workshops. The MICROSOFT OFFICE SPECIALIST (MOS) is a certificate that a student can achieve by passing a national exam given by the Microsoft Corporation. This certificate is given in each of the different computer applications: WORD, EXCEL, and POWERPOINT. Students are taught the different applications and are given the opportunity to take this exam. It is like an advanced placement test for the computer courses. These courses are part of our Career and Technical Education Sequence.
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) -The Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) is a district, state, and national club for junior high school, high school, and college students. The organization has competitive events at each level for which students win trophies and plaques. Students compete in oral and written examinations in a wide variety of subjects, including: accounting, business calculations, computer theory and applications, business English, decision making, parliamentary procedures, and entrepreneurship. The Forest Hills High School chapter also competes in the Chapter of the Year competition for which the members prepare a scrapbook highlighting the activities of the past year; and for which they have won trophies. FBLA is renowned nationally and internationally by colleges and businesses. In addition, the students are encouraged to be socially aware and conscious of those less fortunate. Each year there is a state charity for which the chapters (schools) that raise the most money are awarded prizes. Chapters also receive awards for the highest donation to the national charity, The March of Dimes. The Forest Hills High School chapter has established its own charitable activity. Each year students collect toys and games to donate to a local foster care agency for Christmas and Chanukah. The members have social events in the fall and spring semesters which help build camaraderie. Officers are elected and installed at a candle-lighting ceremony. Our chapter ends its year with a pizza party in June where members are acknowledged for outstanding contributions. Most of our members are also part of the PACE (Business Honors) Program.
Investment Research & Analysis Club - The Investment Research & Analysis Club is a unique club at Forest Hills High School. Students are introduced to concepts about saving and preparing for the future. Diverse topics relating to investing are introduced, especially the concepts about the benefits of beginning when you are young. We have guest speakers, show videos, and play a game called Cash Flow. Cash Flow is a life-experience game that helps the club members anticipate the affects different financial choices have on life and their future. Former members have reported that they realized benefits from this experience.
