Mr. Jhun’s Online Companion

Welcome students!  Hopefully, this site will be able to provide some assistance, though most of this material will be redundant if you are already a diligent student in my class. J  Clicking on the links should provide homework questions, Aims, and possibly some extra material not covered in class (meant as aids, not as requirements for the class).

Some links you may find useful and/or fun:

-         The English Regents Dumpendium: A list of…interesting things I have seen students write on their English Regents essays.  Currently under construction.

-         Some quotes from my favorite person in the world, Albert Einstein..

-         The Wikipedia: The open-source online encyclopedia.  Not something you should cite for research, but an interesting project.

-         Dictionary.com: Quite handy when you are typing a paper and have Internet access handy.

-         Purdue University’s Online Writing Lab: the best online writing guide I’ve seen.  Check it out for general writing concerns, but especially for research paper specifications.

-         Communications from Elsewhere: An odd site, but check out the text generators.  One is proof that teen poetry is formulaic.

-         Modernist Quick Guide: from Brock University’s Department of English.  You can check out some major issues from the Modernists.

-         CNN.com: The Cable News Network’s website.

-         BBC News Website: International news website.  I like to see what England has to say about the world.

-         NYTimes.com: I think you can figure it out.

-         WQXR’s Website: Being a snob, I do like classical music.

-         U.S. News and World Report: a site to check out college rankings, though you do have to pay for much more detailed listings.

-         The Internet Movie Database: A great site to find information on casts and crews on various TV/Film projects.  I’ve wasted many an idle hour looking at who did what film with what other actor ad nauseum

-         WBGO’s website: In addition to being a classical music fan, jazz is also up there.

-         Yehoodi: probably the most active and relevant Swing Dance site on the web.

-         NYC.gov: Obviously.  When you become adults and have to deal with NYC’s real world problems, you can find some quick ways here.
